|Resolution||Please note that the error comes up after you entered your username and password so, it's likely that the login attempt completed successfully.
The Internal Server Error that you're seeing is likely to be related to the default landing page that you have defined in your Organization and a recent changed that occurred to it.
Most of the times the default landing page is the Home Page so the root cause is likely to come from a recent change done to the Layout or one of its components.
Please try to access the Setup menu by changing the URL that you see on your browser to: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/setup/forcecomHomepage.apexp
Remember to change the [instance/domain] part of that URL into your own instance/my-domain, for example: https://emea.salesforce.com/setup/forcecomHomepage.apexp
This URL will take you to the Setup Section of the Organization. There are no Home Page Components there so it will load without an error message.
To resolve the Internal Server Error permanently and also to resolve it for your End-Users you'll need to figure out which Home Page Component is causing the error. Please navigate to the Home Page Layouts setup section and check your layouts to find what component can be causing the error.
A couple of tips:
a) you can look into the "Last Modified By" column on the Home Page Layouts list and check if any of them was modified in the last few hours.
b) Changes to the CTI adapters and changes to the Call Center | SoftPhone Layouts section cause this issue sometimes, it's something that you should also be able to navigate to once you change the URL.
One temporary solution would be to create a new Home Page Layout, make sure that no components are selected (i.e. create a blank Layout) and assign it to every User. This way, your end-users will be able to access the Org without the Internal Server Error.
Summary (Please, remember to change the [instance/domain] part of that URL into your own instance/my-domain, like we said above)
1. You receive an Internal Server Error after logging in. The URL in your browser is similar to: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/home/home.jsp
2. Please change the URL in your browser to: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/setup/forcecomHomepage.apexp
3. Start checking possible causes:
a. Home Page Layouts, URL: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/02T
b. SoftPhone Layouts, URL: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/04n
4. Create an empty new Home Page Layout, making sure that no Home Page Components are selected, URL: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/02T/e
5. Assign the blank Home Page Layout to yourself and your Users to see if this resolves the issue: https://[instance/domain].salesforce.com/setup/ui/assignhomelayout.jsp
