Import My Accounts and Contacts Retirement in Winter ‘17
|Knowledge Article Number||000240083|
1. What is changing?
With the Winter ‘17* release, the Import My Accounts and Contacts wizard will no longer be accessible in My Settings, Setup Assistant, or Setup. The Data Import Wizard and Data Loader will be the only supported data import tools.
* Currently targeted for October 2016; date subject to change
2. Why are we retiring this feature?
We are retiring the Import My Accounts and Contacts wizard in order to focus on providing the best experience with the unified Data Import Wizard.
3. What will happen after the Winter ‘17 release?
With the Winter ‘17 release, all the existing access points to the Import My Accounts and Contacts wizard from within Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience will be updated to direct users to the Data Import Wizard.
For more details on the access point updates, see the information below:
4. What is the difference between the legacy product and the replacement?
The unified Data Import Wizard offers the same functionality as the Import My Accounts and Contacts wizard. In addition, users can import data to both features using the same process: by uploading a CSV file to Salesforce. The key differences between the features are the user interfaces, and the ability of the Import My Accounts and Contacts wizard to upload data from additional sources.
In particular, users can leverage the auto-mapping for Outlook, LinkedIn and Act! directly from the wizard. With the unified Data Import Wizard, users must continue to upload all data using a CSV file. For more details, see Import Data with the Data Import Wizard in Salesforce Help.
Customers can also consider using Data Loader, an installed client application that users download to their desktops. Data Loader lets users bulk import or export account and contact data. See Deciding on a Method of Importing Data in Salesforce Help for more details.
5. What action do I need to take?
We encourage you and your users to begin utilizing the unified Data Import Wizard, and share your ideas for improvements via the IdeaExchange. In addition, we recommend joining the Data Import Success Community to engage with other customers and the Product Management team on this feature.
6. Where can the customer go for more information?
