Knowledge Article Number 000240695
Description This article describes how Soft Credits (Both Full Soft Credits and Partial Soft Credits) function within the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) and how they are related to Opportunity Contact Roles.

Resolution A Soft Credit is a credit for a donation that a contact or donor did not actually make, but may have somehow influenced. In the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), Soft Credits and Soft Credit Rollups (i.e. the aggregate totals of different categories of soft credits) are tracked on the Contact record. There are two kinds of soft credits in NPSP: full soft credit and partial soft credit.
