How to resolve error of type 'In field: LastActivityDate - no CustomField' while trying to install/upgrade a package

Description Some customers might face Internal Server Error while trying to install/upgrade a package on an organization. The error email you receive should consist of the problem message in below format:

(ObjectAPIName.FieldName) In field: LastActivityDate - no CustomField named ObjectAPIName.LastActivityDate found

For example, in real scenario, the error message would look like this:
(Application__c.NewApplication) In field: LastActivityDate - no CustomField named Application__c.LastActivityDate found 


 
Resolution The issue is caused because of 'Track Activities' not being enabled on the custom object detail page. In order to resolve the issue, navigate to object detail page, Edit and enable 'Track Activities'. Once enabled, try to install/upgrade the package, issue should be resolved.
