SOAP API Legacy Versions Retirement for Salesforce

Publish Date: Jun 14, 2026
Description

Salesforce retired SOAP API legacy versions 1.8, 2, 2.2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6 with the Winter '19 release. These versions are no longer available. Applications using these legacy versions will fail with an API error indicating the version has been deprecated.

What Changed?

Beginning with the Winter '19 release, API calls made to these legacy SOAP API versions fail with a deprecation error. Moving to newer SOAP API versions provides improved security, performance, and access to advanced capabilities.

How Do I Know If My Applications Use Legacy SOAP API Versions?

To identify applications using legacy SOAP API versions, contact the developers of your integrated applications to determine which SOAP API versions they use.
If you cannot contact the developers, review your Event Log Files:

  1. Use a tool such as Workbench to query the EventLogFile object, which logs all actions within your org over the last 24 hours.
  2. Export and download the data as a CSV file.
  3. Open the CSV file and filter for log lines where API_TYPE equals E (Enterprise WSDL) or P (Partner WSDL).
  4. Check the API version column. This retirement impacts any integrations using version 6 and below.

For more information, see the How to Download and Visualize Event Log Files Trailhead module.

Why Were These Versions Retired?

Salesforce focused development efforts on enhancing current SOAP API versions to improve overall security and performance.

Resolution

To prevent disruption from the SOAP API legacy version retirement, upgrade your applications to use a current SOAP API version. The steps below will help you identify affected integrations and transition to a supported version.

Step 1: Identify Legacy API Usage

Review your Event Log Files as described in the Description section above to identify any integrations using SOAP API version 6 or below.

Step 2: Upgrade to a Current SOAP API Version

Update your application's WSDL and endpoint references to use a currently supported SOAP API version. For guidance on accessing the latest SOAP API versions, see the Introducing SOAP API Developer Guide.

Step 3: Contact Support if Needed

If you have additional questions, open a case with Support via Salesforce Help. To view all current and past feature retirements, see Salesforce Feature Retirements.
