Add Multiple Columns to a Dashboard Table in Salesforce Classic

Review the instructions below to add up to 4 columns to your Salesforce Classic dashboard table.

Important: Please be sure that you complete steps 1-11 before you proceed to the Dashboard steps.

Step 1:  Customize your report 


1.  Click Customize or Edit on your source report to enter the report builder.
2.  Ensure that your report is summarized (grouped) for each extra column you want to display (Example: Summarize the report by Opportunity Owner and Region and then Summarize individual fields). 
3.  If your report already includes a chart, click Edit Chart. Otherwise click Add Chart.
4.  Select Vertical Bar Chart as your chart type.
5.  Set Y-Axis to the first value you wish to display (example: Record Count).
6.  Set X-Axis to the appropriate grouping value (example: Account Name).
7. ‘Group By’ by the Second grouped field.  There are 3 options to select the preview: Side-by-Side, Stacked, or Stacked to 100% (within the 3rd option, "Stacked to 100%", the Combination Charts option is grayed out by default).
8.  Under 'Combination Charts,' select Plot Additional Values.
9.  Under 'Display,' select Column.
10.  Under 'Value,' select to the other display value (example: Average Aging Days).
11.  Select Use Second Axis.
12. Click OK.
13. Verify the chart displays the correct values, then click Save.

 

Step 2:  Add columns to the dashboard table


1. Open the dashboard and click Edit.
2. Click the Wrench icon on the table you want edit.
3. Click the Formatting tab.
4. Confirm that Column 1 is your grouping value.
5. Set Column 2 to one of the two values you wish to display.
6. Set Column 3 and 4 to the other values you wish to display.
7. Click OK.
8. Verify the table displays the correct values, then click Save.


Valid dashboard table combinations :

  • 2 grouped fields and 1 number.
  • 2 grouped fields and 2 numbers.
  • 1 grouped field 2 numbers.
  • 1 grouped field and 3 numbers.


Invalid dashboard table combinations :

  • 3 grouped fields and 1 number.
  • Sorting by 2nd grouping.
  • You can have either Numbers, Currency, or Percentages, but not a combination of each.
  • Show percentages together with numbers by formatting the field as a number in your Report (0.15 for 15%), and format the dashboard component as as 'Percentage.'


​Note: Customized tables will allow null values in the results. The default two-column tables do not.
