Cannot Edit a Salesforce Contract's Account Name After It Has Been Activated

Udgivelsesdato: Apr 2, 2026
Beskrivelse

Users are unable to edit the 'Account Name' on a Contract after it's been activated in Salesforce.

Løsning

Once a Contract is activated in Salesforce, the Account Name and Contract Currency fields become read-only by design. To change the Account, you must delete the activated Contract and create a new one. This requires the Delete Activated Contracts permission.

In order to change the Account on which the Contract resides, delete the Contract and create a new one.

To delete an activated Contract, Users need the Delete Activated Contracts profile permission and Read permissions on the Accounts object (more about Deleting Contracts).

To delete a Contract, click Del next to the Contract on the Contracts list page. A Contract can also be deleted by clicking Delete on the Contract detail page.

Note: When deleting a Contract, all related Notes, Attachments, Events and Tasks, History, and Approval Requests are deleted. Associated Accounts are not deleted with the Contract. The deleted Contract is moved to the Recycle Bin. Undelete the Contract, and the related items are also restored. Once a contract is activated, the contract status cannot be changed back to draft.
