Default Dashboard on User's Salesforce Home Page

Salesforce allows users and administrators to display a Dashboard component on the Salesforce Home Page.

In Salesforce Classic, this is set up through Home Page Layouts in Setup.

In Lightning Experience, the Dashboard component is embedded using the Lightning App Builder and can be assigned to specific apps and profiles.

NOTE: Default dashboards on user home pages can be configured by users or System Administrators.

Add a Dashboard to the Default Home Page within Salesforce Classic

  1. Select Setup.
  2. In the Quick Find box, enter and select Home Page Layouts.
  3. Find your home page and select Edit.
  4. In the Edit Home Layout screen, enable Dashboard Snapshot.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Adjust the order of the components.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Select the Home tab.
  9. Click on the Customize Page in the "Dashboard" section (on the far right).
  10. Select a dashboard to be on the Home Page.
  11. Click Save.

 

Add Dashboards to the Lightning Experience Home Page

  1. From Setup, enter "App Builder" in the Quick Find box, then select Lightning App Builder.
  2. Click New.
  3. Choose where to embed the dashboard. (Record pages don’t support embedded dashboards.)
    • To embed a dashboard on an app page, select App Page. 
    • To embed a dashboard on the Home tab, select Home Page.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Give your app page or home tab layout a label, then click Next.
  6. Choose a page template, then click Finish.
  7. Drag and drop the Dashboard standard component into place.
  8. From the Dashboard drop-down list, choose a dashboard to embed.
  9. Optionally, specify a maximum height and choose to show or hide the dashboard if an error prevents it from loading.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click Activate.
