Salesforce Mobile App: How to Submit and Manage Approval Requests

The Salesforce Mobile App supports Approval Processes, allowing users to both submit records for approval and respond to approval requests directly from their mobile device.
  • Approval requests submitted to you appear as in-app notifications and Push Notifications.
  • Viewing an approval gives you the option to Approve or Reject the request, and add optional comments.
  • End users can submit a record for approval directly from the app.

Submitting a Record for Approval

 
Users can submit records for approval from the Salesforce Mobile App. The Submit for Approval button appears in the Action Bar of a record when both of the following conditions are met:
  • There is an active Approval Process configured for the object.
  • The record's page layout includes the Submit for Approval button.
 

Limitation: 

Users cannot manually select approvers in the Salesforce Mobile App. If an Approval Process requires manual approver selection, the user must log in to the full Salesforce site (Lightning Experience or Classic) to submit the record.
 

Approving or Rejecting a Request

 

Users can receive and act on approval requests in the Salesforce Mobile App regardless of whether the record was submitted via the full site or the mobile app.
  • Notifications appear as both in-app and Push Notifications.
  • Tap the notification or navigate to Approval Requests in the navigation menu to view the request.
  • You can also pin Items to Approve as a list in Mobile Home for quick access.
  • Approved or rejected requests can include optional comments.

 

Limitations:

  • There is currently no option to reassign an approval request in the mobile app.
  • Notifications for approval requests are not sent to queues.
  • Notifications are sent only to approvers who have access to the record being approved. Approvers without record access can still receive email notifications but cannot complete the approval in the mobile app unless record access is granted.
  • Individual users can opt in or out of approval request notifications via the Receive Approval Request Emails field on their User record.
  • After approving or rejecting, you may need to manually refresh the record to see the updated approval status.
