Automatically filtered activity in an Account Engagement emails

Julkaisupäivä: Sep 30, 2025
Kuvaus
Account Engagement currently employs two methods by which bot and/or security scanner activity can be filtered from email engagement or click reports for list emails and email templates.
Ratkaisu
To improve the accuracy of your reports and other engagement actions, Account Engagement has built-in visitor filters to prevent clicks from certain IP ranges that are associated with email security scanners being logged as legitimate activity.
Notes:
- Clicks from these filtered IP ranges don’t fire completion actions, scoring, or Engagement Studio triggers.
- Email unsubscribe headers now ignore bot clicks to unsubscribe links.
- IP filters are not retroactive. No changes are made to activity or reports made before November 12, 2018.
- These filters will *not* filter out email Opens.
- The filters *will* filter out the activity of an Unsubscribe, but the recipient prospect record will still be opted out.

Beyond that, we also feature a service known as "Metrics Guard".

This service is not based on specific IPs but, rather, suspected bot behavior. We look at trends and other activity-based data to prevent the activity from being logged. Unlike the filters, this stops the activity from ever entering Account Engagement . There is no option to see this filtered activity.

How are Account Engagement reports affected by these methods?

Email clicks and click-through rates on your Account Engagement reports will now show activity that is more likely to be associated with human interaction. Since reports prior to November 12, 2018 would still include the now-filtered activity, these reports may appear to have more engagement, but reports after that more accurately reflect true interaction.

Steps to retain bot clicks in your Account Engagement reports

If you wish to remove the pre-built visitor filters, you can change the setting at any time:

1.  If you are using the Account Engagement  Lightning App:
Browse to Account Engagement Settings > Automation Settings > Visitor Filters
-- If using the Classic pi.pardot.com interface, browse to Admin Automation Settings Visitor Filters.
2. Remove entries that begin with the prefix [PD-SYS] -
However, no adjustments can be made to the Metrics Guard for Email service.

With both of these services, we choose to err on the side of caution and do not filter any activity unless we are certain it did not come from a human. As such, you may see activity in Account Engagement from time to time which may have been caused by a security scanner. We operate under the idea that we don't want to risk filtering any legitimate activity. Over time, these services will be refined and improved to produce more accurate results, but we cannot guarantee a 100% success rate.
