In Salesforce, Tasks and Events are both types of Activities. Unlike Tasks, Events cannot be manually closed—they automatically complete when the event date passes.
This article explains how to mark a Task as complete using different methods in both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
Use the following steps to complete a Task in Salesforce depending on your interface and starting point.
Note: The Status is automatically changed to Completed when X is clicked.
