Overview of Salesforce Email Limit Types

게시 일자: May 2, 2026
상세 설명

Salesforce enforces email limits for security, abuse prevention, and to control the impact of email on message delivery. This article describes the four main Salesforce Core email limit types and explains when each applies to your organization.
The four Salesforce email limit types are:

  1. Maximum Single Email Message Recipients Per Day
  2. Daily Mass Email Limit
  3. Maximum Number of Workflow Emails Per Day
  4. Individual Emails

Note: System emails such as password reset emails and welcome emails do not count against any of these limits.

Additional Notes:

  • These limits apply to both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.
  • This information applies to licensed Salesforce orgs. Developer Edition orgs and orgs evaluating Salesforce during a trial period have stricter limits on the number of emails sent per day and per email.
  • For organizations created in Spring '19 and later, the daily limit is also enforced for email alerts, simple email actions, Send Email actions, and REST API.
  • For organizations created before Spring '19, the daily limit applies only to emails sent via Apex and Salesforce APIs (excluding REST API).
  • Emails sent from Flows do not count against the SingleEmailMessage limit unless sent to an external address. They count only toward the DailyWorkflowEmails limit.

    1. Maximum Single Email Message Recipients Per Day

This limit applies to any emails sent through a single email message call. This includes references to external email addresses and email addresses of users, but not references to User IDs. Information on daily limits using API methods can be found here.
Example: Emails sent through Apex, including triggers, classes, and buttons.

    2. Daily Mass Email Limit

This limit applies to any emails sent through the "Mass Email Contacts" or "Mass Email Leads" function through the user interface or Setup menu, plus any emails sent through the "Send List Email" option in the user interface. For more information, review
    Salesforce Help.
Example: Email sent by navigating to the Contacts tab and clicking on the "Mass Email Contacts" link in the lower right. Email sent by navigating to the Campaigns tab and selecting "Send List Email" from the dropdown menu in the upper right.

    3. Maximum Number of Workflow Emails Per Day

Any email alert that is sent as part of a workflow action.  This allocation applies to emails sent through email alerts in workflow rules, approval processes, Flows, or the REST API.  See Proactive Alert Monitoring: Daily Workflow Email Limit for more details on this limit.
Example: An email alert consumes the Daily Workflow Email Limit when sent to an internal user and also an external email address. Considerations for organizations created on Spring '19 and later, please see Daily Allocations for Email Alerts.

    4. Individual Emails

Each organization can send single emails to a maximum of 5,000 external email addresses per day. "External emails" refers to any email not related to a Contact, Lead, or User. There is no limit on sending single emails to contacts, leads, person accounts, and users in your org directly from account, contact, lead, opportunity, case, campaign, or custom object pages. To see general email limit quantities, visit this Salesforce article.
Example: In the user interface (UI), emails sent to one Contact from that Contact record.
Note: If a newly counted email cannot be sent because your organization has reached the limit, Salesforce will notify you by email and add an entry to the debug logs.
