Task assignment notification not sent when Task is assigned to the creator

When you create a new Task and assign it to yourself, the Task assignment notification email will not be sent for that Task. 
 
Løsning

If your organization is configured to Enable User Control of Email Notifications for Tasks in Salesforce Classic, it's expected for Users who create and assign a Task to themselves to not receive an assignment email notification.

However, if Users create a Task and assign it to any other User, the Task's assignee should receive the Task assignment email notification.

If a User is not receiving assignment notifications for Tasks created by and assigned to them from other Users they may not have the "Email me when someone assigns me a task" preference selected in their Reminder & Alerts setup section. See the "Customizable Reminder Settings" section of the Activity Reminders documentation for more details on where Users can set their reminder preferences.

In Lightning Experience, go to setup, search for Notification Delivery Settings. In "Salesforce Notification Types", expand "Activities", and make sure "Task assignments" has "Desktop" checked.

If your organization does not have the "Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications" preference enabled in Activity Settings to let your Users control task notifications globally and "Send Notification Email" is selected upon Task creation then Users will receive an email notification upon assigning a Task to themselves.

Note: The "Send Notification Email" checkbox on Task creation is only available in Classic. To see this option "Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications" must be disabled in Activity Settings and the "Email Notification Checkbox" preference must be enabled in the Task's associated Page Layout's Properties. See 'Send Notification' checkbox not available on the Task page layout for more details.

If you would like to receive email notifications for Tasks created by and assigned to yourself when "Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications" is enabled, please consider promoting the following Ideas so that we may see the ability to set this preference added to Salesforce with a future release: Checkbox option for Task Assignment notification emails to be sent to owner.
