Salesforce Authenticator Automation

For automation within the Salesforce Authenticator app, we recommend the following best practice settings:

  • Allow browser privacy settings to save cookies for 3rd party Salesforce sites. This may be done at the admin or end user level. Before making any changes in your browser, verify with your IT department that the changes comply with your security policies. Edit browser settings to keep login history if possible.
  • Within the Salesforce Authenticator App, Enable the Einstein Automation Settings button on the Settings page within the app. When enabled, locations that you trust three or more times will attempt to automatically automate common trusted locations for future logins. Trusted locations are saved indefinitely, or until you remove them from the app. 
  • Suggested: iOS location services permission set to Always and Background App Refresh enabled. Android has location services set to High Accuracy Mode. Set notifications to always allow and keep the app open during use.

Note:

Background App Refresh is disabled in Low Power Mode. Forcing your app to close can interfere with request automation.

Additional Phone & App settings suggested:

  • IN the Authenticator App - Back up accounts = ON
  • IN Authenticator App - Automation Settings Einstein Automation ON
  • IN General Phone Privacy & Location Settings = Set to Always ON
  • Keep the app open to allow for automation detection.

In the Org:

Salesforce Org Admin side clickpath (Classic and Lightning): 
From Setup, enter Identity Verification in the Quick Find box, then select Identity Verification. 
Enable - Let Salesforce Authenticator automatically verify identities using geolocation

If all settings are in place and app performance is still not improved.  Please go into the App Settings > About > click Send Feedback for review. This will pull details from the individual phone settings and sends to the product team for a performance review and they will contact you should they need additional information.

If you disable Einstein Automation, your existing trusted locations remain in place. Einstein Automation is enabled on new downloads of Salesforce Authenticator with these device settings. iOS has location services permission set to Always and Background App Refresh enabled. Android has location services set to High Accuracy Mode.
