Contact Salesforce Support to disable the feature in Lightning.
Note: Disabling this permission also unexpectedly disables other instances of inline-editing such as:
- Adding new Products on Opportunity and Orders
- Adding new Team Members on Accounts
Consideration: If the changes do not appear or only appear partially, navigate to the respective object record, select Setup → Edit Page, and then click Save. This ensures the updates are properly applied. You may need to repeat this step for all objects where the changes are not reflected.
