Salesforce Maps Mobile App Experience

Publish Date: May 1, 2026
Description

The Salesforce Maps Standalone Mobile application is available for iOS and Android and provides access to Salesforce Maps features on mobile devices. This article describes supported devices, licensing requirements, and key behavioral differences between the Salesforce Maps native app and the Maps Mobile tab within the Salesforce App.

Resolution

Device Compatibility and Support

We recommend using the 'Maps Mobile' tab within the Salesforce App unless the user needs access to the 'Live Tracking' product.  Except for the Live Tracking feature, there are no other limits of Salesforce Maps product features between the Salesforce app and the Salesforce Maps App.

  • iOS and Android Supported Devices
  • Does not support offline mode and an internet connection is required
  • Requirements for Salesforce Maps Live Tracking (Salesforce Maps Live Mobile Retirement)
  • The Standalone Mobile application uses a web view login flow which may require MFA even with SSO
  • Salesforce Maps is not supported in the browser experience on tablets due to the mobile experience being a VisualForce Page that is iFramed. The only supported mobile experiences are the Salesforce Maps native app or the Salesforce Mobile app via the Maps Mobile tab (visualforce tab, part of the managed package). We recommend using the Maps Mobile tab instead of Maps tab inside the Salesforce Mobile app for the best performance. Additionally, if using Maps within the Salesforce Mobile app - avoid using the Maps Mobile tab as the first (landing) tab in the mobile app navigation menu as outlined in these best practices.
  • When creating custom actions that contain URL redirects, Salesforce Maps cannot support an action navigating to the Salesforce App and opening a desired page due to limitations with the Salesforce mobile app not having the ability to interpret URL navigation as a desktop browser. For more information on custom buttons and limitations please review this article.
  • Maps Winter'26 Release also introduced the enhanced user experience before it becomes the standard and only framework for Salesforce Maps on the Salesforce Mobile App. See Release Notes.

License Required

You need to be a Salesforce user with a Salesforce Maps license in order to use Standalone Mobile. If you do not have a license, the Standalone Mobile app will display a License Required message.
