The Option to Select an Email Editor Is Not Available in My Email Settings

When you click an email link in your Salesforce organization in the browser, the default email client configured on your computer opens to compose the email.

Overview

The Select Email Composer section appears in a user's My Email Settings only when both of the following conditions are met:

  1. The SendEmail action is configured and added to the Global Publisher Layout.
  2. The user's profile has the Send Email permission enabled.

If this section is missing for a user, an administrator must verify and configure both settings.

Step 1: Add the SendEmail Action to the Global Publisher Layout

  1. Navigate to Setup > User Interface > Global Actions > Global Publisher Layouts.
  2. Click Edit next to the Global Publisher Layout.
  3. In the action palette, find the Send Email action.
  4. Drag the Send Email action to the layout.
  5. Click Save.

Step 2: Enable the Send Email Profile Permission

  1. Navigate to Setup > Profiles.
  2. Click the profile name for the affected user.
  3. Under General User Permissions, find and enable Send Email.
  4. Click Save.

Once both settings are in place, the user sees the Select Email Composer section in their My Email Settings, and can choose the Salesforce Email Composer as their default.
