Always back up your data before performing any data operation. See Export Backup Data from Salesforce or Export Data for more details. It is recommended to run a test with a small subset of records to ensure the operation was successful through manually opening and verifying that the corresponding records are correct in Salesforce.

A) Prepare a CSV file of your Contact records. Include the following column headers in your CSV file:

  • Contact ID
  • Email Bounced Date (Leave this column with blank values)
  • Email Bounced Reason (Leave this column with blank values)

B) Prepare your Data Loader:

  1. Open Data Loader.
  2. Click on Settings | Settings.
  3. Select Insert Null Values.
  4. Click OK.

C) Update your records via Data Loader:

  1. Open Data Loader.
  2. Click Update.
  3. Login with your username and password.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Contact.
  6. Click Browse and select the prepared CSV file.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Create or Edit a Map.
  9. Map the following fields:
  • Contact ID -- ID
  • Email Bounced Date -- EmailBouncedDate
  • Email Bounced Reason -- EmailBouncedReason
  1. Click OK.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Click Finish.

At this point, your Contact records should have been updated and the email bounce alerts removed.
