View PDF files from SharePoint through 'Files Connect'

Description
When users attach a PDF file found in SharePoint into a Chatter post or Files and try to view it thereafter, Salesforce will open a new tab in the browser and just display a page that shows the file name, instead of the actual PDF file itself. 

Only files created using MS Office programs can be opened through Files Connect - SharePoint. This is because PDF files cannot be created using MS Office and would therefore need to be opened outside Files Connect. 
Resolution


PDF files not part of Office 365 


This is working as designed since PDF files are not part of the Office 365 MS app online package. This is why you are being redirected to open PDFs in SharePoint.

The workaround that we have for this is to click back on the directory or path where you were directed on the URL site, then return to the location of the PDF to view the file.
