Default Font of Emails Sent From Salesforce

Publiceringsdatum: May 6, 2026
Beskrivning

When composing emails in Salesforce Lightning Experience, the font displayed in the email composer is controlled by the user's browser default settings — not by Salesforce. This means the font that the sender sees while composing an email may differ from the font that the recipient sees when they receive the email. If no font is explicitly selected in the email composer, both the sender's view and the recipient's view will reflect their respective browser's default font settings.

Understanding the Default Font Behavior

When you compose an email in Salesforce without selecting a specific font, the browser you are using determines the font displayed. This behavior applies to both the sender composing the email and the recipient reading it. Because different browsers have different default fonts, the sender and recipient may see the email content in different fonts.

How to Ensure Consistent Font for Sender and Recipient

To ensure that both the sender and the email recipient see the same font, use the font selector in the email composer toolbar to explicitly choose a font before composing the email. Selecting a font in the toolbar overrides the browser's default font setting for that email. Both the sender and receiver will then see the email content in the selected font.
Example: A Sales representative composing a follow-up email in Google Chrome may see the text in Times New Roman (the browser default), while a recipient opening the email in Mozilla Firefox may see it in a completely different font. By selecting "Arial" in the Salesforce email composer toolbar before typing, both the sender and the recipient will see the email content in Arial, regardless of their browser settings.

Pre-Defining a Default Font (Feature Request)

Currently, pre-defining a default font and font size for all emails sent from Salesforce is not a supported feature. This is an active feature request on the Salesforce Idea Exchange. If this functionality is important to your organization, vote and comment on the idea to help prioritize it: Setting a Default Font Type and Size For Email Templates For All Users.
