While using Gmail with the Salesforce Gmail Integration, the Salesforce side panel displays the message "Your session expired". This typically occurs when Salesforce.com is open in another browser tab and that Salesforce session has timed out.
The Gmail Integration side panel session is directly tied to and mirrors the active session in your open Salesforce.com browser tab. When the Salesforce.com tab session expires or logs you out, the Gmail side panel session also expires and displays the "Your session expired" error.
For example: If a user opens Gmail in the morning and keeps the browser open all day, by afternoon the Salesforce.com tab may have timed out due to inactivity. This causes the Gmail Integration side panel to show the session expired error even though the user did not manually log out.
The Gmail Integration side panel session mirrors the session in your open Salesforce.com browser tab. When that tab's session expires, the side panel also expires. There are two ways to resolve this:
Quick Fix — Refresh the page: Refresh the Gmail page or click OK on the error message to refresh the side panel. If your Salesforce.com tab is still active, the side panel will reconnect.
Long-term fix — Extend session timeout: To prevent the session from expiring frequently, extend the session timeout setting for the affected user's profile in Salesforce.
