Lightning Experience Site in Mobile Browser FAQ

Publiceringsdatum: Jan 27, 2026
Beskrivning
Lightning Template Experience Sites at Mobile Browsers have limits & differences in User Experience compared to the Full Site functionality available at Desktop / Laptop (or Salesforce on the new iPad operating system).

Note: this list of limitations is not comprehensive

Login Behavior

  • Adding an Experience site as an icon on a mobile home screen (i.e. using "Add to Home Screen" in Safari on iPhone) does not save login information for future sessions. Force closing the browser will end the session and login will be required again upon opening the icon on the home screen.

Create record from a lookup

  • You can’t create a record from a lookup field.

'Upload Files' button on Files related list

  • The ' upload files' button on the files related list is built for a Desktop interface and is not compatible within the mobile UI.
  • When the Files list component is added in an Experience Cloud Site, the 'Post' button shows but not 'Upload Files'.
  • The best suggestion is to include the Feed Publisher component in your Experience Cloud Sites, which is specifically built for including 'attachments'.

Files 'Upload New Version' button on Mobile Browsers

  • On mobile browsers, the “Upload New Version” button for Files does not use the standard Lightning file upload component. Instead, it opens the operating system’s native file upload dialog rather than the File Picker component.
  • Due to inherent differences between desktop and mobile browsers—and the way mobile operating systems manage local files—mobile browsers do not fully support the native file chooser components required by this functionality.
  • As a result, the “Upload New Version” feature is designed for the desktop interface and isn't supported on ‌mobile browsers.

Tabs in Salesforce App

Note: Since Create an Experience Cloud Site styling and functions don't fully work at the Salesforce App, we recommend using the Mobile Browser or talking to your Account Executive about our Mobile Publisher for Experience Cloud app.

If Users proceed with Salesforce App: Your Experience Cloud site will not look like it does in the mobile browser.
By default, they see the Tasks and Chatter tabs in the App.

If you want to add more tabs to the Salesforce app, you will need to enable tabs in the Experience Cloud Site.
  • If you’re using one of the preconfigured templates, such as Customer Service or Partner Central, the Tabs page is hidden by default.
  • To display the page, click Administration | Preferences, then select Show all settings in Management or how all settings in Workspaces.
Once you turn on the above setting, you will see Tabs under Administration.

Note: The Experience Builder's Mobile preview is an approximation and simulated view port with limitations. When users access a page via a mobile device's browser the same page may display differently than what is shown in Experience Builder's mobile preview. It's recommended to not rely on only the mobile preview and test on real devices and various browsers for quality assurance.

Chatter

  • Group mention:
    • When you post an at mention in a Private Group, mobile shows a toast message with the target group's name (i.e."{YOUR_GROUP} Group does not have access to this post").
    • Note, Lightning Experience in  Desktop shows different messaging (i.e. "This post is visible to any members of {YOUR_GROUP} Group who are also members of this group.").
    • The resulting access to the Group & its post is the same at Mobile as described in Lightning Experience.
  • Comment:
    • The "Feed Post & Comments" Component provides the optimal Mobile Browser experience to create Comments on existing Chatter threads. Please see Feed Post & Comments.
    • Note: the "Feed" Component can provide a view of existing Comments. Please see Feed

List Item Actions

  • When the 'Record List' standard Experience Cloud Site Component shows a list view in the mobile browser, the Filter, Sort and New List Actions will display above the List as standard list actions and can't be removed. Also, the User can swipe left on a record in the list to see a set of Actions. The ability to filter by certain fields can't be disabled without also removing access to those fields.
  • These List Item actions here reflect How Predefined Actions Are Ordered in the Salesforce Mobile App Action Bar and List Item Actions

Search

  • Searches may show results for terms similar to the words typed into the Search box. Please see Search Spell Correction Overview
  • Since phone and tablet screens size, they may not include all the help wording that shows at Full Site desktop view. For example:  "Showing results for "your search term" and spell-corrected terms." on All results, or the count of results on the Object specific search results.

Dashboard

  • There is no Refresh button

Reports
