What is a Partner Business Org (PBO)?

Every company needs a CRM system to run their business and operations. As a benefit of being a Salesforce Partner, you will receive access to the Partner Business Org (PBO). This is a production environment to place all of your critical apps and data. The Partner Business Org has AppExchange partner tools pre-installed, along with two free Enterprise Edition Sales Cloud licenses.

Leveraging the Partner Business Org
For ISV Partners, the Partner Business Org enables you to publish and manage the sale and distribution of your app, as well as utilizing key partner technologies such as License Management (LMA), Channel Order App (COA), and Environment Hub.

For Consulting Partners, the Partner Business Org can help you manage leads, accounts, contacts, opportunities, as well as support for your own customers. Note: you must meet the qualifications of the program to qualify for this benefit.

What is a Trial Partner Business Org (PBO)?

Partners signing up to Partner Community can create a Trial PBO (Partner Business Org) by clicking on Get a Salesforce Username. A Trial PBO is a temporary Partner Community account provided to new or prospective partners to explore the platform’s features, tools (like Environment Hub, LMA, COA, etc.), and resources. It allows partners to familiarize themselves with the functionality of the Partner Community.

The status of the Trial PBO will be "Trial" and can be verified from the Company Information page of the org. If the expiration date of the Trial PBO is approaching, the partner must request a trial extension to prevent the org from being placed on Hold and eventually purged.

Partners can create Trial PBO via this link, if they don't already have one. If they have issues creating a Trial PBO, they can log a case to request one. Follow the same steps listed under "How to request a PBO benefit?" and ensure to mention "Trial PBO" in the Subject field.

What is the eligibility criteria for partners to avail Active PBO benefit?

Partner Business Orgs are a benefit of the AppExchange ISV, Consulting, Cloud Reseller, Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner Programs. Please see applicable program benefit pages for eligibility criteria.

What if the eligibility criteria is not met by the partner?

If the partner does not meet the requirements or received a rejection for an active PBO, they can still use a Trial PBO.

    • Organization cannot be Developer Edition and must be at least an Enterprise Edition

How can we request add-on licenses for our PBO?

Please be advised that the PBO is a commercial production environment, and anything beyond the partner benefit must be purchased as a customer. This is outlined in this article: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000356577&type=1.

Therefore, any additional licenses of any type should be requested through your direct Account Executive or via the org using the Checkout feature. Please note that the self-service Checkout app in a Partner Business Org is enabled, but it may not work for purchasing licenses on your first add-on order.

Once an Account Executive converts a new business quote to the org for a paid request, the Checkout app will become functional thereafter.
