Mass Update Opportunity Probability (%) Values for Existing Records in Salesforce

게시 일자: Apr 30, 2026
상세 설명

If we update the Probability (%) with new value for any Opportunity Stage field, the Probability (%) field on Old/Existing opportunity records won't update automatically.

Say, A has got Prospecting Stage and if we change Probability for Prospecting Stage from 25 % to 30 %, existing opportunity records with Prospecting Stage will remain with same Probability as 25 %.

솔루션

We can still mass update new Probability (%) values for Existing Opportunity records with the help of below steps:

1. Mass update with Data Loader

  • Request for .csv file containing Opportunity ID's and new custom Probability (%) value (without '%' symbol)

  • Run Update with just Opportunity ID's to "Edit and Save" all Opportunity records from file.

2. Create Workflow Field Updates for each Opportunity Stage and run Mass mass update on Opportunity ID's

  • First, create workflow rules for each stage with probability action field update for each related stage. In order to create this workflow rules, follow instructions as outlined in this article here.

  • Run a report to fetch Opportunity ID's and export it to .csv file or export Opportunity ID's with the help of Data Loader.

  • Run Update Command on Data Loader to Mass "Edit and Save" opportunity records.

NOTES:

  • When setting a % field in workflow field updates, the number needs to be divided by 100. So instead of setting 50, it should be: 0.50

For example, if your sales team changes the default probability for the Prospecting stage from 25% to 30%, existing Opportunity records with that stage will not be updated automatically. Use the steps below to apply the new value in bulk.
