Create New Events with Maps Schedule

Udgivelsesdato: Oct 11, 2024
Beskrivelse

You can add markers from a Maps marker layer to your schedule. Saving a marker to your Schedule automatically creates an event, links the event to the appropriate Salesforce record, and adds the event to your Salesforce calendar.

Check out the following video to learn how to Create New Events with Maps Schedule.

Adding Markers to A Schedule

  1. Find the marker layer containing the markers you want to add to your schedule and plot it.
    • Note: Markers from layers, which use "event" as the base object can't be used for this operation.
  2. Click the marker you want to add to your schedule, then click the Actions tab
  3. Click the Add To Schedule button
  4. Select Add to Schedule or drag the record over to an open time slot.
Notes:
  • By selecting Add to Schedule, Salesforce Maps will find an optimal time that accommodates the duration of your event plus drive time to or from surrounding events on your schedule.
  • You can't schedule events that are in the past. Make sure you are
    • on a future day or
    • past the current time (if you are on the current day).
  • Not doing so results in a "Waypoint is not schedulable" error.
  1. Click Save

Note: Users cannot add records from Data Layer to Schedule when using mass actions.
Saving an event in schedule, requires a related record in Salesforce which will be referenced for the latitude and longitude values to plot the event on the map. Since, the Data layer records do not exist in Salesforce, the Add to Schedule action will not appear when clicking on a single marker on the map.

However, if you have a boundary created on the map along with a data layer plotted on map, right click on the boundary to show Mass actions > Add to Schedule. Right clicking on a boundaries Mass actions > Add to Schedule will randomly add a Data layer marker to the schedule but will not be able to save the event on schedule and will disappear.

This is an expected functionality, because Maps cannot hide the Add to Schedule button from the mass actions menu, as we need to account for the situation where it's a mix of markers being selected (i.e. markers from data layers and other standard base object's marker layers). In this scenario we wouldn't hide the button, but users will get a toast message 'No markers found that support this action'.
