When deploying Salesforce Maps to a large number of users, manually assigning Permission Set Licenses one by one is not practical. This article explains how to use Data Loader to bulk-assign Salesforce Maps Permission Set Licenses by inserting records into the PermissionSetLicenseAssign object — useful for initial rollouts or when onboarding a new team.
There are two steps to Assign Salesforce Maps Permission Set Licenses. You’ll need to (1) determine the Permission Set License ID for Salesforce Maps in the appropriate organization, then (2) insert new Permission Set License Assignments for the appropriate Users.
Determine the Salesforce Maps Permission Set License ID for your organization. (Note: The Salesforce Maps Package must be installed in an organization before the Permission Set License will be available. Additionally, the Permission Set License ID for Salesforce Maps will be different for each organization where the Salesforce Maps Package is installed.)
To assign Permission Set licenses, you will create a new record in the PermissionSetLicenseAssign object for each User to be assigned a license. Create a CSV file that contains the following fields:
Once this is saved as a CSV (comma delimited) file, use Data Loader to insert the records:
Once this process is complete, your users will be assigned the Permission Set License.
