Create verified latitude and longitude fields for Maps

Publiceringsdatum: Nov 3, 2022
Beskrivning
Occasionally, locations may fail to geocode accurately. The actual location may be down the street or across the road from the geocoded location. By adding Verified Latitude and Longitude fields to an object, you can manually place a marker in the correct location. Moreover, you can configure Maps to read from those fields when you plot markers.

1. Navigate to your object via Setup - Object Manager. For Fields & Relationships, select New.

2. Select the Number for the Data Type. Select Next.

3. Enter a name for the Field Label. Call it something like "Verified Latitude." For the Length, enter 3. For the Decimal Places, enter 15. Select Next.

4. Your Field-Level Security settings should be Visible. Select Next.

5. Add the custom field to the page layouts. Enter Save & New. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for the Verified Longitude field.

6. You now need to ensure Maps can read from and write to your Verified Latitude and Longitude fields. Enter "installed packages" in the Quick Find search box. Select Installed Packages.

7. Select Configure next to Salesforce Maps package.

8. If you have already created a base object, select the Edit Existing tab. If you're setting up a custom object for the first time, refer to  Preparing Custom Objects for Maps. Select your Base Object from the dropdown.

9. Select the Verified Latitude field you created.

10. Select the Verified Longitude field you created.

11. When you're ready, select Save at the bottom of the page. Maps now have everything needed for you to use the Set Verified Location button.
