Salesforce Maps: Field Filters in Marker Layer Builder

Julkaisupäivä: Aug 18, 2026
Kuvaus

A field filter in Salesforce Maps is the most basic filter type as well as the most common filter type. Field Filters allow a user to select from any available field on the selected base object.

Ratkaisu

This article explains how to use field filters in the Salesforce Maps Marker Layer builder, including filtering on related lookup fields and combining filters with custom logic.

Limitations

Note: Long Text Area fields cannot be filtered in Salesforce Maps.

Basic Field Filters

If the Marker Layer is being built on the Account object, the user can access any Account level field with Field Filters.

  1. Edit a particular Marker Layer.
  2. Select Field Filters under the Filters tab.
  3. Choose the available field, select the operator, and add a filter value.

Filtering on Related (Lookup) Fields

Field Filters also allow a user to look up the data structure. Typing the word "Lookup" into the filter box displays all lookup fields on the object. Selecting the lookup field allows the user to add additional filters from a related object via a lookup relationship. The example below shows how to create an Account report with a filter for a specific user based on the User table.

  1. Create a Marker Layer based on the Account object.
  2. Select Field Filters under the Filters tab.
  3. Select the 'Owner Id' lookup field on the Account object. A new dropdown field appears below.
  4. All related User object fields show in the dropdown. Select 'Username'.
  5. Select the 'equals' operator and enter a specific username to show all the Accounts owned by that user.

Combining Filters with Filter Logic

Field Filters can be organized using Filter Logic to accommodate more complex Marker Layers.

  1. Create a Marker Layer based on the Account object.
  2. Select Field Filters under the Filters tab.
  3. Create multiple filter conditions using the +Add Condition button.
    • Example: 1. 'Industry' equals 'textile' and 2. 'Ratings' equals 'Hot'.
  4. Select Custom Logic Is Met under the Take Action When dropdown.
  5. Use Boolean operators to manage your custom filter logic. Example: (1 OR 2).

State/Province Code Considerations

If state and country picklist are enabled, using a State/Province two-digit code (example: MO for Missouri) you may see data if a state or province in another country has the same code — for example, MO for Morales, Mexico. Filtering on one of these states or provinces can return data for the other. It is recommended to add the country to the filter criteria to ensure the expected data is returned.
