Configuring Account Engagement Connected Campaigns: Recommended Order of Operations

Publiceringsdatum: Sep 30, 2025
Beskrivning
Recommended steps to take before and after enabling Connected Campaigns. This guide is designed for customers who have already been using Account Engagement Campaigns and/or Salesforce Campaigns and now want to turn on the Connected Campaigns feature.
Lösning
  1. Determine which existing Account Engagement Campaigns you'd like to continue using once Connected Campaigns is turned on. Once Connected Campaigns is enabled, you can no longer use Account Engagement-only campaigns.
    • Don't forget your Website Tracking and Salesforce connector campaigns!
  2. Determine which existing Salesforce Campaigns you'd like to use as Connected Campaigns in Account Engagement (if applicable). Pay attention to which record types these Salesforce Campaigns use; you'll specify which Salesforce Campaign record types you want to sync with Account Engagement when you enable Connected Campaigns in step 5. If you don't have record types created for Salesforce Campaigns, see step 3.

  3. If you don't have record types created for Salesforce Campaigns, we recommend creating specific record types for Connected Campaigns. This will help prevent any unnecessary campaigns from syncing with Account Engagement once Connected Campaigns is enabled. For example, your sales team may use Salesforce Campaigns in a different way than your marketing team. In this case, you might want to create one record type called Sales Campaign and one called Marketing Campaign and choose to sync only the Marketing Campaign record type with Account Engagement . If you do create new record types, work with your Salesforce admin to realign existing Salesforce Campaigns to the appropriate new record type. See more on record types here. If you decide to not create Salesforce record types, in order for the Salesforce campaigns to sync to Account Engagement , please enable the 'Master Record Type' for connection.

  4. Use your lists of campaigns to keep and create counterparts in the other systems. For example, for Account Engagement campaigns you want to continue using, create a matching Salesforce campaign. For Salesforce campaigns, you want to continue using, create a matching Account Engagement campaign.
    • The mapping process can be easier if you use the same naming conventions for your Account Engagement and Salesforce campaigns.

  5. Select the "Enable Connected Campaigns and Engagement History" Account Engagement Connected Campaign setting (select just this setting for the time being)".

  6. Map your existing Account Engagement campaigns to campaigns in Salesforce either using Excel, or individually.

  7. Once you've finished mapping, you can turn on the "Use Salesforce to Manage Campaigns" setting. We recommend entering a date under "Limit Campaign Creation by Date." This ensures that only Salesforce Campaigns created after the specified date will get created as Connected Campaigns in Account Engagement. See more on this feature here.

  8. Any existing Salesforce campaigns created in Salesforce with a record type enabled for connection that haven't been mapped to an Account Engagement campaign, won't sync automatically to Account Engagement as a connected campaign. For them to sync to Account Engagement as a connected campaign, the "last modified" timestamp on the existing Campaign record needs to be updated to a timestamp of after configuring connected campaigns. This can be done either by manually editing the Campaign record and then saving it, or in bulk by using a bulk update Campaign tool in Salesforce such as Data Loader.
