Multiple Tracker Domains in Account Engagement

Publiceringsdatum: Sep 30, 2025
Beskrivning
The Account Engagement's multiple tracker domains feature allows accounts with multiple validated tracker domains to apply any of those tracker domains to a particular asset.

The following asset types can be created and edited to use tracker domains that are not necessarily the account's primary tracker domain:

➤ Email Templates
➤ List Emails
➤ Landing Pages
➤ Forms
➤ Form Handlers
➤ Email Preference Centers
➤ Files
➤ Custom Redirects

This feature is available to all Account Engagement customers.

Adding Tracker Domains

Tracker Domains can be created in multiple accounts/business units, but they can only be validated in 1 account/business unit. If you have more than 1 Account Engagement account (or business unit), you cannot use the same exact domain in each account. Instead, slightly modify the tracker domain for each account/business unit, e.g. go.acme.com, go2.acme.com, go3.acme.com etc.
You'll also want to ensure that the subdomain you choose is not already being used for any other purposes. The configuration process is such that the specified subdomain can *only* be used as the Account Engagement tracker domain.

Selecting Tracker Domains

When editing any of the asset types above, you can select the tracker domain for the asset by changing the Tracker Domain dropdown on the asset editing page. If no tracker domain is selected, Account Engagement defaults to the primary tracker domain on the account.

Vanity URLs

While you are given the option to select a tracker domain when creating or editing and asset, applying the vanity URL or link path to any of your account's tracker domains will still resolve to the same content. For example, if go.acme.com and go2.acme.com are both validated tracker domains, Account Engagement will resolve the landing page link go2.acme.com/download-whitepaper even if go.acme.com is selected as the tracker domain for that asset.
Because vanity URLs or link paths will resolve on multiple tracker domains, they must be unique within the Account Engagement account.

Vanity URL Statuses

In the Tracker Domains table in domain management, the Vanity URL Status column indicates if vanity URLs will resolve for that tracker domain on the Account Engagement account. Keep in mind that the tracker domain must be validated.
  • Serving: Indicates that this tracker domain can be used for vanity URLs on this Account Engagement account.
  • Duplicate: Indicates this tracker domain exists in another account. Vanity URLs with this domain will not resolve on this Account Engagement account.
  • Serving + Duplicate: Indicates that while this tracker domain exists in another account, Account Engagement will resolve vanity URL requests to this account (Duplicates can only be validated in 1 account).

Asset Nesting

All links (including those of other assets) will be rewritten to match the selected tracker domain on an email template.
For other non-Email Template assets, nested assets will keep their own tracker domain. Nesting an asset on another asset will not result in the nested assets' tracker domain being overwritten by the parent's tracker domain. For example, if you nest a file on a landing page and the file and landing page are assigned different tracker domains, the file will not be overwritten to use the tracker domain of the landing page.

Visitor Tracking

When a prospect interacts with assets on different tracker domains, visitor activities are merged in almost all cases. Visitor activities will not merge if a visitor clicks a custom redirect or file link on an Account Engagement asset unless it meets one of these criteria:
  1. The link uses the account’s primary tracker domain.
  2. Both the link and the asset have the same tracker domain.

Form Handlers

You can manually change the tracker domain in the form handlers' endpoint URL and the submissions will still go through even when the tracker domain isn't the primary one. For example, you have to change the tracker domain from your endpoint URL from:

https://pi.pardot.com/l/000000/2020-20-20/1abcd2

To:

https://yourtrackerdomain.com/l/000000/2020-20-20/1abcd2
