Error ‘List email was canceled due to an error detected by the system’ on list email with attachment

When a user is sending a list email or a sales cadence automated email with attachments, the user receives an error message:

List email "<subject of the list email>" was canceled due to an error detected by the system.

Error code: INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_ON_CROSS_REFERENCE_ENTITY
Error Description: EntityObject can not be initialized with null EntityInfo

Steps to reproduce the issue (In Lightning Experience)

  1. Select a campaign.
  2. In the Campaign Members section, select dropdown and Send List Email.
  3. Create email by either entering the text or using a template.
  4. Click the Attach file icon to select an attachment.
  5. Click on Send.
  6. See the error message in the email from Salesforce.

Enable the required Library permissions

  1. Log in as a system administrator and switch to Salesforce Classic interface.
  2. Search in the Quick Find box for Content Permissions and click on it from the results to open.
  3. Complete Salesforce Classic click path: Setup | Customize | Salesforce Files | Content Permissions.
Note: If admin is unable to see the ‘Content Permissions’ in Setup from Classic Interface, make sure that the User Details settings for “Salesforce CRM Content User” is enabled for this admin.
  1. Please make sure that the following permissions are selected on the checkbox from the Library Permission Name (Viewer/Author/Workspace Administrator) 
  • Deliver Content
  • Attach or Share Content
  • Manage Library

Once these steps have been completed, please test again to confirm if the issue has been resolved.
