Salesforce Chatter for Windows Retirement

Publish Date: Mar 5, 2026
Description

What changed?

Salesforce retired the Salesforce Chatter for Windows app on December 1, 2020. At Salesforce, customer success is our top priority, and as such, we recommend that customers use Chatter in the browser version of Salesforce.

Salesforce will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or enhancements for issues with the Salesforce Chatter for Windows app. The app will continue to function, but Salesforce will no longer update the app to support future changes.

What action did I need to take, and was there a replacement for this feature?

You should evaluate your use case and consider using Chatter in other Salesforce products, like the browser or the Salesforce app. There’s no additional customer action required. You can still view Chatter in the browser.

Your data will not be impacted as everything is still stored in Salesforce. Customers who have the app installed will still be able to use the app, but new downloads will not be available as we will remove it from the Windows Store.

Why did Salesforce retire Salesforce Chatter for Windows?

We’re retiring this product because it has not been under active development for a while. We want to provide our customers with the most optimal experience.
