If your Marketing Cloud Engagement account uses Dedicated IP addresses to send emails, there are a few different ways that each IP address can be configured for sends. This configuration exists on the back end and is not visible in the user interface.
1. Delivery Profile Only: With this configuration, an IP address can only be used for sending emails when it is specifically selected in a Delivery Profile.
2. Transactional and Commercial: (also known as Operational and Marketing) This configuration allows both Transactional and Commercial sends to use the IP address where the Delivery Profile IP Address is set to "Account Default."
3. Transactional: (also known as Operational) This configuration allows the IP address to be used for Transactional sends where the Delivery Profile IP Address is set to "Account Default."
4. Commercial: (also known as Marketing) This configuration allows the IP address to be used for Commercial sends where the Delivery Profile IP Address is set to "Account Default."
Control how sends are classified (as Transactional or Commerical) within your account in each Send Classification.
When multiple IP addresses are configured for transactional and/or commercial sends, they operate in a pool. This is useful for higher-volume senders that need to spread send volume over multiple IP addresses.
Dedicated IP addresses are assigned at the business unit level, so each business unit may have different Dedicated IP addresses assigned and each IP may have its own configuration.
Modify Dedicated IP Configuration
To request changes to the sending configuration of existing Dedicated IP addresses in your account, create a case on the Salesforce Help and Training Portal.
Ensure that your case contains the MID of the Business Unit where you would like to make changes. Include the list of IP addresses you would like to change, as well as the configuration for each IP Address.
Example:
Please update the Dedicated IP configuration for MID: 123456 as follows:
1.2.3.4 Transactional and Commercial (Operational and Marketing)
2.3.4.5 Transactional and Commercial (Operational and Marketing)
3.4.5.6 Transactional (Operational)
4.5.6.7 Commercial (Marketing)
5.6.7.8 Delivery Profile Only (None)
Add a Dedicated IP Address that has already been purchased
Exercise caution when adding new Dedicated IP addresses to your account. Only senders that typically send more than 2.5 million emails per day need more than one dedicated IP address. Ensure that you will be sending a minimum of 100,000 emails per month per IP to keep each IP warm.
If you have previously purchased additional Dedicated IP addresses from your Account Executive that you have not yet added to your account, you may request these be added by creating a case on the Salesforce Help and Training Portal.
Be sure to include the following in your case:
Example:
Please add 4 new Dedicated IP addresses to MID: 234567
New Dedicated IP 1: Delivery Profile Only (None)
New Dedicated IP 2: Delivery Profile Only (None)
New Dedicated IP 3: Delivery Profile Only (None)
New Dedicated IP 4: Delivery Profile Only (None)
We would like the IPs wrapped with our SAP domain. These IPs will be used for marketing emails with approximately 500,000 sends per month per IP.
Copy Dedicated IP Address(es)
If you have existing Dedicated IP address(es) in one business unit, you can request to have them copied to another business unit. This allows you to send from the same Dedicated IP address(es) in multiple business units. To request this change, create a case on the Salesforce Help and Training Portal. Ensure that your case contains the MID of the Business Unit where you would like the IP copied from as well as the MID of the business unit where you would like the IP copied to. Include the list of IP addresses you would like to change, as well as the configuration for each IP Address.
Example:
Please copy the Dedicated IP addresses listed below from MID: 345678 to MID: 4567890 and configure them as follows:
1.2.3.4 Transactional and Commercial (Operational and Marketing)
2.3.4.5 Transactional and Commercial (Operational and Marketing)
3.4.5.6 Transactional (Operational)
4.5.6.7 Commercial (Marketing)
5.6.7.8 Delivery Profile Only (None)
