Salesforce API versions are incremented by 1 with each major release.
Data Loader version also follows this pattern and matches the release's API version.
For example, Data Loader and API version 64 correspond to the Summer '25 release.
Review which API version is associated with each release by navigating to the SOAP API Developer Guide.
Navigate to the SOAP API Developer Guide. On the left-hand side of the page, locate the version selector dropdown — the first or left-most dropdown below the "SOAP API Developer's Guide" header and above the "Search in document" box. This dropdown lists past major releases and their corresponding API versions, going back to Spring '14 (v30.0).
Image description: The dropdown displays API version numbers (e.g., v64.0) alongside their corresponding Salesforce release names (e.g., Summer '25). By default, the current release version is shown.
By default, when you navigate to the Developer Guide, the drop-down will display the current major release API version.
