Outlook Integration Side Panel Does Not Update Between Emails

The Salesforce Outlook Integration is built on the Microsoft Add-In Framework. A known limitation in this framework restricts how frequently the content in the integration side panel can refresh.


When you first open an email in Outlook, the integration loads all related Salesforce information in the side panel. If you navigate to another email within the same conversation, the side panel refreshes to show related information for that email. However, when you navigate back to the originally opened email, the side panel does not refresh again to display the related information for that original email.

This article explains how to force the Salesforce Outlook Integration side panel to refresh and display the correct related record information when switching between emails.
If the side panel does not refresh when you open an email, double-click the email in your Outlook inbox. Double-clicking the email forces a full panel reload, and the content in the side panel updates to reflect the related Salesforce information for that email.

 

Note: Single-clicking to navigate between emails in the same conversation does not trigger a side panel refresh due to the Microsoft Add-In Framework limitation. Always double-click to open an email if you need the side panel to show updated information.
