Filter by Owner in Salesforce Maps Marker Layer Builder

This article explains how to filter Marker Layers based on the record ownership model in your Salesforce org.

1. Navigate to the Salesforce Maps Marker Layer Builder. From the Salesforce Maps Layers tab, hover over the three vertical dots in line with a marker layer's name, and select Edit.

2. Select the Filters tab, and then select Create Filters For. You'll see several different ownership and ownership scope options. Available options may vary depending on the base object you selected for this marker layer. For example, Account base objects will show the following options, which function the following ways:

• All Accounts: Display all Account records regardless of the record owner.
• My Accounts: Display Account records where the Current User Id matches the value in a user lookup field on the record. Use the dropdown menus provided to specify your desired ownership model for this marker layer.
  • User IDs Included in Filters dropdown define the ownership scope:
    • Current User ID: The User Id of the running user
    • Current User or Direct Report: The User Id of the running user and any users (including inactive) who have the running user listed in the Manager lookup field on their User record.
    • Current User or Subordinate: The User Id of the running user and any users (including inactive) who are below the running user in a Manager hierarchical relationship
  • ID Field dropdown defines the user lookup field that Salesforce Maps will search for the specified user values. Remember, these lookup fields will vary depending on the base object you selected for this marker layer. Common user lookup relationships include but aren't limited to:
    • Owner ID: The user that owns a record
    • Created By ID: The user that created a record
    • Last Modified By ID: The user that modified a record most recently
• My Team's Accounts: Displays all records owned by the running user and all of the running user's active subordinates in the Role Hierarchy.
• My Territories' Accounts: Displays all records in the running user's Territory. 
• My Territory Team Accounts: Displays all records in the running user's Territory Team.

  • Please note: Ownership filters follow the same logic as the ownership filters in Salesforce Reports.

3. Select Save or Save, and Plot to save any changes made to the layer.
