Use Salesforce Maps usage reports to get your layer plotting metrics

This is an example usage report from the article Creating Usage Reports with Salesforce Maps Analytics. Usage reports on the Maps Analytics object allows admins to see the layers being used in Maps and which users are running them. Salesforce Maps Analytics can report on all different layers: Maker Layers, Data Layers, Favorite Locations, Shape Layers, and ArcGIS Layers.

Prerequisites:

  • Salesforce Maps Permission Sets
  • Creating Usage Reports with Salesforce Maps Analytics
  • Make sure that the object “Maps Analytics” has reporting enabled:
    • Setup → Create → Objects
    • Select “Maps Analytics” then click edit
    • Make sure the checkbox “Allow Reports” in enabled
  • Check object settings to ensure access to all fields (this is done on the profile level)
    • Setup → Administer → Manage Users → Profiles
    • Select a desired profile
    • Click on “Object Settings”
    • Select “Maps Analytics”
    • Enable read access on all fields under “Field Permissions”

 

  1. Create a new Salesforce Report
  2. Select the report type “Maps Analytics” located in Other Reports Note: Don't see these report types or with the object you are looking for? Create a new one! Check out this Salesforce article
  3. Select Create New
  4. Manually remove the default columns, or select the option Remove All Columns
  5. Change the report to Summary Format
  6. Drag over the field called “Saved Query”
  7. Drag over the field called “User” under the section to create a grouping within the Summary preview
  8. Drag over the field called “Sub Type” under the section to create a grouping within the Summary preview
  9. Drag a drop fields other desired fields into the report
  • Example Maps Analytics fields: Type, Maps Analytic: Last Modified By, User Profile and Maps Analytic: Created By
