Unsuccessful Status when generating Work Orders from Maintenance Plan

Work Order generation from Maintenance Plan (MP) may fail when customizations are added to objects related to the process (e.g. Work Order, Service Appointment).
Løsning
To resolve the issue:
  1. Check the Maintenance Plan's chatter feed for an automated post about the failure. If Feed Tracking is not enabled for the Maintenance Plan object, ask the customer to enable and reproduce the failure if possible to see if the post is generated along with an actionable error message, otherwise continue with the remaining steps.
  2. Verify you can manually create a Work Order without any errors.
  3. Verify there are no custom required fields on the following objects:
    • Work Order
    • Work Order Line Item
    • Asset
    • Maintenance Asset
    • Service Appointment (if MP included a Work Type where Auto-Create Service Appointment is set to TRUE)
    • Assigned Resource (if you have automation to auto-schedule Service Appointments)
    • NOTE: If you have custom required fields you need to make sure they have a default value configured, so the MP generation process knows what value to set for those fields.
  4. Verify custom automation (triggers, processes, workflows) on the following objects are not interfering with the process by disabling them then testing again:
    • Maintenance Plan
    • Work Order
    • Work Order Line Item
    • Asset
    • Maintenance Asset
    • Service Appointment (if MP included a Work Type where Auto-Create Service Appointment is set to TRUE)
    • Assigned Resource (if you have automation to auto-schedule Service Appointments)
    • NOTE: If you are unable to reproduce after disabling your custom automation then your automation is contributing to the issue.  If you feel your automation should not interfere in any way with the process please reach out to Salesforce Support.
  5. Verify you can reproduce the issue with custom validation rules on the following objects disabled:
    • Work Order
    • Work Order Line Item
    • Asset
    • Maintenance Asset
    • Service Appointment
    • Assigned Resource
  6. Verify you can reproduce the issue after deactivating custom lookup filters on fields from the following objects
    • Work Order
    • Work Order Line Item
    • Asset
    • Maintenance Asset
    • Service Appointment
    • Assigned Resource
