'Out of Office' is a Salesforce Chatter functionality available only in Lightning Experience. It allows users to schedule an out-of-office message for specified dates and customize the message text.
For example, a Salesforce administrator can set up the Out of Office feature so that when a user is on vacation from June 1–7, any Chatter post that @mentions them will automatically display a notice stating they are out of office during those dates.
A system administrator must perform the setup steps below to enable this feature.
If the button is still not visible on the People page after enabling the Chatter setting, check if the 'Out of Office' button is added to the User Page layout:
Once Out of Office is set for a user, when selecting that user in a Chatter post with the "@name" specification, the Out of Office notice will appear along with the dates the user selected.
