Allow Users to 'Log Email on Send' With Salesforce Outlook Integration and Avoid Error "Ask your admin for permission to log email"

Outlook Integration allows users to associate emails from Outlook to Salesforce records. Normally, they can open the side panel from their Outlook client to associate the emails while viewing them from Inbox or Sent folder in Outlook.

With the 'Use Enhanced Email with Outlook' feature, users are also allowed to associate the emails while composing them through the 'Log Email on Send' button.

This feature is not enabled by default, and users could encounter the error message, "Ask your admin for permission to log email" on the Outlook client side panel.

To set the feature for Enhanced Email with Outlook and to assist with the error "Ask your admin for permission to log email", perform the following:

Note: Review Considerations for Using Enhanced Email before enabling the permission.

1. Verify Enhanced Email is enabled:

  1. Open the Setup menu
  2. Type "Enhanced Email" in the Quick Find box
  3. Select Enhanced Email
  4. Click Enable if not already enabled

 

 2. Enable 'Use Enhanced Email with Outlook':

  1. Open the Setup menu
  2. In the Quick Find box, enter Outlook Integration and Sync and select it
  3. Expand the "Let users access Salesforce records from Outlook" section
  4. Locate the Use Enhanced Email with Outlook and enable it by using the toggle switch on the right side of the screen

 

3. Enable 'Email to Salesforce'

If users continue to see the 'Ask your admin for permission to log email' error message after the steps above, please confirm that 'Email to Salesforce' has been enabled in your org as per the steps given here.
