You can use the Saved Layers tab to view, edit, plot, and create layers.

1. Navigate to the sidebar and select the Layers tab.

2. Select the
Saved tab (below the search bar).

3. To plot a layer onto the map, select one of the three folders:

  • Personal Folder: All users in your org who have a license of Salesforce Maps will have a personal folder where they can create and store queries, shape layers, favorite locations, and folders.
  • User Folders: This section of folders contains a folder for all users in your company’s Salesforce role hierarchy; this makes it easy for a manager to assign queries to other users.
Best Practice: Many clients choose to hide the User Folders from view for Salesforce Maps end users, and keep the User Folders in view for administrators.

Note: Queries, shape layers, favorite locations, etc. cannot be created directly from User Folders. A manager or admin creates, edits, and views queries in the corporate folder, and can then copy them into a User Folder. That user will then see this particular query in their Named Folder. A manager can view queries for all users beneath him or her. User Folders can be hidden from certain users within permission groups. If you do not see the User Folders, you do not have the permission to do so.

  • Corporate Folder (Bottom): This folder can be thought of as a public space. Any query in this folder can be viewed by any Salesforce Maps user. Folder permissions  can be assigned to mitigate any security concerns that may arise.
Best Practice: We recommend enabling folder permissions for the corporate folder, and then assigning permissions to users on an as-need basis. The main reasoning for this is to avoid your users making changes to queries that are being used by the entire organization.

Note: In order to be able to perform these actions, one must be a folder admin.

4. You can also create new layers via the Layers tab.

5. Click + New icon under the Saved tab.

6. Click one of the layer options.
