View the Status of "List Emails" (Mass Emails) That Have Been Sent

This article explains how to check the delivery status of a List Email (also known as a mass email or bulk email) that has been sent from Salesforce. You can view whether the email was successfully sent, cancelled, or is still in draft. You can also generate an HTML Email Status Report to track how many times recipients have opened the email after it was successfully sent.

After sending a List Email in Salesforce, you can confirm its delivery status through the List Email object. If the email was sent successfully, you can optionally generate an HTML Email Status Report to view engagement metrics such as email open rates.

Check List Email Send Status

Use the following steps to determine whether your List Email was sent successfully, cancelled, or is still in draft:

  1. Click the App Launcher (the grid icon in the top-left corner of Salesforce).
  2. Search for and select List Email.
  3. The List Email object displays a list of all List Email processes that have been triggered, along with their current status:
    1. Sent — the email was delivered successfully.
    2. Cancelled — the email send was cancelled or failed.
    3. Draft — the email has not yet been sent.

View Email Open Tracking with HTML Email Status Report

If the List Email was sent successfully and you want to see how many times recipients opened the email, you can generate an HTML Email Status Report:

  1. Navigate to Reports in Salesforce.
  2. Click New Report.
  3. Select HTML Email Status Report as the report type. Make sure you have selected the category "All" reports to find the HTML Email Status report type.

Note: HTML Email tracking must be enabled in your Salesforce org for open rate data to appear in the report. See the additional resources below for steps to enable HTML email tracking.
