Unable to Assign Salesforce Task to Queues

Date de publication: Sep 11, 2025
Description

Starting with the Spring 20 release, you can now assign Tasks to a queue.

To set it, navigate to Setup | Users | Queues. Then, you can click the New button and create a new queue and set Task as the supported object.

However, note that you are only able to assign Tasks to Queues when you are at the Task tab in the Lightning Experience.

If you are creating a Task under the Activity Timeline using the New Task action from a parent object (for example Account), you might not be able to see Queues under the drop down and only see Users.

Résolution

When creating a Task under the Activity Timeline for the Record Page Settings, you may not see the Queues and only Users. This is currently working as designed.

Note: To check the Record Page Settings, Administrators can go to Setup | User Interface | Record Page Settings and check if it is set to Related List or Activity Timeline.

As a workaround, Administrators can change the Record Page Settings from Activity Timeline to Related List. Then create a Task from the Open Activities related list.

Administrators can also keep the Activity Timeline; however, they will need to modify the page layout by adding a single related list component in Lightning App Builder and then add the Open Activities related list. This will enable them to create a Task under the Open Activities related list, so you can assign it to a Queue.

Note: Components cannot be added directly to a page layout, this will need to be done by editing the Record Page.
