Error message: “You need a Salesforce Engage license to view this page” in Salesforce with Account Engagement

Description
Salesforce Engage is a paid add-on for Account Engagement. The Account Engagement package includes some features that are only relevant for Salesforce Engage. Using those features requires additional licenses.

This error occurs when Engage-specific components are added to page layouts in Salesforce, but the users do not have Engage licenses.

Résolution
A Salesforce admin should review page layouts and search layouts in Salesforce for the lead and contact objects, and remove all Engage-specific components.

Examples of these components include...
  • the "Send Engage Email" button
  • the "Add to Nurture List" action
  • the “AddtoPardotList” Visualforce page
  • the "Marketing Actions" cards on mobile layouts
