Salesforce Dashboard 'Refresh' Button Not Working in Lightning Experience

Date de publication: May 14, 2026
Description

When viewing a Salesforce Dashboard in Lightning Experience, clicking the Refresh button does not trigger a data refresh and appears unresponsive. The same Refresh button works correctly when the Dashboard is viewed in Salesforce Classic.
This behavior occurs when the Dashboard contains one or more Visualforce Components. Visualforce is a legacy page-building framework in Salesforce. Dashboards that embed Visualforce Components are not fully supported in Lightning Experience, and the Refresh action is blocked as a result.

Résolution

This behavior is working as designed in Salesforce.
The Refresh button does not function in Lightning Experience for Dashboards that contain Visualforce Components. This is a known limitation of Lightning Experience's compatibility with Visualforce-based Dashboard components.
To restore the Refresh functionality in Lightning Experience:

  1. Open the Dashboard in edit mode.
  2. Identify and remove all Visualforce Components from the Dashboard layout.
  3. Replace them with equivalent Lightning-compatible components where possible.
  4. Save the Dashboard.

Once all Visualforce Components are removed, the Refresh button functions normally in Lightning Experience.
Recommendation: Migrate Visualforce Dashboard components to Lightning Web Components (LWC) for full compatibility with Lightning Experience features. See Why Should I Use Lightning Web Components Instead of Visualforce? for guidance.
