This article explains how to request an increase to the maximum number of active Data Category groups allowed in your Salesforce org. Data Category groups help organize Knowledge articles, Questions, and Ideas. For example, if you manage a support center with multiple product lines and geographic regions, you may need more than three category groups.
Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited and Developer Editions
Default: 3 active Data Category groups
Maximum: 6 active Data Category groups
Submit a limit increase request with Salesforce Support
Review Salesforce documentation on working with Data Categories before reaching out to Support.
To increase the number of active Data Category groups beyond 3, you'll need assistance from Salesforce Support.
If you've reviewed all relevant documentation and still need assistance with increasing this limit, please have a System Administrator create a limit increase request with Support.
There is an additional limit of total data categories (including active, inactive, and soft-deleted) that typically defaults to 5. When you submit a request to increase your total number of active categories, Support will also increase your limit of total categories to accommodate for this change.
