How to Download Gmail Integration Log Files for Salesforce Support

Overview

When troubleshooting Gmail Integration issues in Salesforce — such as emails not syncing to the Activity Timeline, the Salesforce Chrome extension not loading, activities not appearing on Salesforce records, or authentication errors — Salesforce Support may request Gmail Integration log files.
These log files are generated by the Salesforce Chrome extension installed in your Google Chrome browser. The log files capture detailed diagnostic information about the extension's activity, including connectivity attempts, authentication status, and any errors encountered during sync. Providing these logs to Salesforce Support allows engineers to identify the root cause of your Gmail Integration issue more quickly.

How to Download the Gmail Integration Log Files

Follow these steps to enable verbose logging and download the Gmail Integration log files from your Chrome browser. Verbose logging captures additional detail that helps Salesforce Support diagnose connectivity, authentication, or sync issues with the Gmail Integration extension.

  1. In Chrome, select the Extensions icon next to the Address bar.
  2. To the right of the Salesforce icon, select the 3 dots (more options).
  3. Select Manage extension.

    Alternatively: Click the 3 dots to the right of your Google profile icon > select Extensions > Manage Extensions. From here, select Details from the Salesforce extension.
  4. Select to pop out Extension options.
  5. You will be prompted with a pop-up to choose an environment.
  6. Select the Environment you would like to download the log for.
  7. Select Enable verbose logging in this pop-up.
  8. Click Download logs.
  9. A .txt file will be downloaded to your computer.
  10. Attach this file to your Salesforce Support case, or email it to your Salesforce Support agent.

Notes on Log File Names

  • The downloaded log file name starts with Logs- followed by the day, month, and time the file was downloaded.
  • Example log file name: logs-Mon Aug 31 2020 14_30_32 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)
