Create a New Task and Set a Reminder Using the Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) Side Panel

Дата публикации: May 4, 2026
Описание

Using the Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) side panel, you can create a new task directly from an Outlook Publisher Action. By default, the task reminder fields are not visible or editable in the SFO side panel user interface. However, you can configure these reminder fields to be automatically populated by setting Predefined Field Values in the Global Actions setup in Salesforce.

Решение

The following steps configure the New Task Global Action to automatically enable a reminder whenever a task is created from the Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) side panel.
Note: The reminder fields — IsReminderSet (Reminder Set) and ReminderDateTime (Reminder Date/Time) — are not displayed in the SFO side panel UI. They are populated silently in the background using the Predefined Field Values you configure in the steps below.
Step 1 — Navigate to the Task Global Action

  • Salesforce Classic: Setup | Build | Create | Global Actions | Global Actions | Click the New Task action
  • Lightning Experience: Setup | User Interface | Global Actions | Global Actions | Click the New Task action

Step 2 — Add Predefined Field Values
In the Task Action, add the following two fields under Predefined Field Values:

Field NameAPI NameField TypeValue
Reminder SetIsReminderSetCheckboxTRUE
Reminder Date/TimeReminderDateTimeDate/TimeNOW()

Step 3 — Verify the Reminder Behavior
After saving the configuration, create a new task from the Outlook Publisher Actions in the SFO side panel. The reminder will be automatically set based on the predefined values configured above.
