As documented in the Data Sync and Connections article, Data Sync and Connections adds a layer of validation to CRM Analytics dataflows when initially enabled and when any dataflow is created or updated after Data Sync has been enabled. This validation affects which objects and fields appear as available in the Dataflow Editor.
Object and Field Visibility Without Data Sync and Connections Enabled
When Data Sync and Connections is not enabled, the objects and fields available in the Dataflow Editor reflect the visibility of the logged-in user. This may include Unsupported Salesforce Objects and Fields or fields that are not visible to the CRM Analytics Integration User. Selecting these objects and fields causes errors when the dataflow runs — specifically, "Object is not available" or "Field is not available" errors.
Object and Field Visibility With Data Sync and Connections Enabled
When Data Sync and Connections is enabled, the Dataflow Editor only shows objects and fields that are visible to both the logged-in user and the Integration User. This intersection-based visibility ensures that only objects and fields that can be successfully digested into datasets appear as options.
To prevent unsupported or inaccessible objects and fields from appearing in the CRM Analytics Dataflow Editor, enable Data Sync and Connections in the org.
Once Data Sync and Connections is enabled, the Dataflow Editor applies overlapping visibility rules between the logged-in admin user and the CRM Analytics Integration User — only objects and fields visible to both users appear. This prevents the selection of objects or fields that are invisible to the Integration User, which would otherwise cause runtime errors such as "Object is not available" or "Field is not available" when the dataflow runs.
To enable Data Sync and Connections:
If specific objects or fields need to be visible to the Integration User, review the Integration User's profile and permission set configuration and ensure the required object and field permissions are granted.
