Troubleshooting Salesforce Issues in the Safari Browser

This article covers troubleshooting steps for customers who experience issues accessing or using Salesforce in the Apple Safari browser.

Supported versions: Salesforce supports the most current, stable version of Safari. Many Safari issues are caused by outdated versions of Safari or macOS. Safari is updated through macOS updates. For instructions on updating, see Update or reinstall Safari for your computer.

Note: Safari is not supported for PC (Windows) machines. It is supported only on Mac computers and iOS/iPadOS devices.
For troubleshooting in other browsers, see:

Basic Troubleshooting Steps for Salesforce in Safari

Step 1: Clear Cache, Cookies, and Browser History

Browsers retain cookies and cache over time. A build-up can cause issues with logging in and page rendering in Salesforce. Follow Apple's instructions to clear cache and cookies in Safari.

Step 2: Clear Redirect History

Redirect errors can also cause issues in Safari. Clear the history in Safari by following Apple's guide here. After making these changes, force-quit Safari before relaunching.

Step 3: Disable Extensions and Add-Ons

Extensions and add-ons can cause rendering issues in Salesforce when viewed in Safari. Disable extensions by following Removing and Disabling Extensions in Safari. Once the offending extension is isolated, contact the company that produced it.

Step 4: Allow Salesforce Popup Windows in Safari

For issues with popup windows asking permission to visit another website in Salesforce:

  1. With the Salesforce window selected, click Safari > Settings for This Website.
  2. Set Pop-up Windows to Allow.

Additional Notes

  • If the issue is unresolved and cannot be reproduced on other machines, contact your IT team or administrator. Issues can be caused by group policy settings, antivirus software, or other software interfering with Salesforce.
  • If you cannot upgrade to the supported browser or macOS version, contact your IT team for assistance meeting the supported requirements.
  • If you have confirmed you are on the current version and still experience issues, file a case with Salesforce Support. Include: which browsers you tested, which users are affected, detailed replication steps, which adjustments were attempted, and any screenshots.
  • Check the Salesforce Known Issues site for Safari-specific issues to report impact and sign up for notifications.
